If ASP.NET was installed prior to the IIS installation. Go to the .NET Framework folder in the command-line (e.g., c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v1.1.4322) and run aspnet_regiis /i. Check the mappings again after running this command. If you're running IIS 6 (Windows Server 2003) make sure the ASP.NET extension is enabled.
